I have Stage 1 triple negative breast cancer. I have had my lifetime dose of adriamycin and was put on a regimen of Cytoxin and Taxotere. I had a moderately severe reaction to these drugs in my second treatment. What do I do next?

Sorry to hear about your reaction. When I was on the "cocktail" of Taxotere. My Onc prescribed steroid pills to take the night before and the morning of my chemo. Then of course....steroids and Benadryl via IV. She told me this was due to so many women having a reaction to the Taxotere. Was this done by your Onc? If you are not able to tolerate those two drugs...not to worry. There are more chemo drugs used. I completed my rounds of Adriamycin, Cytoxin, and Taxotere and then had my surgery. Afterwards due to extensive lymph node involvement I am on chemo again using the drugs Carboplatin and Gemcitabine. These two chemo drugs are used for later stages of breast cancer as well as lung and ovaian cancer. Talk to your Onc about your different options. Best wishes and prayers to you in your fight!

I am stage 1 and will soon be on cytoxin and taxotere as well. What kind of reaction did you have? Did you lose any hair or has it thinned?

My hair thinned first, came out in my hands and hairbrush, so after my second treatment I took charge and cut my long long hair and had a Mohawk until it all fell out..

It's growing back now though! 2 months outta chemo

Lol, I also had a Mohawk, hot pink. I had it done 7 days after my first AC treatment and had my friend shave it the same night. It actually started coming out 13 days after my first chemo! I am also triple negative, stage 1, no lymph...

I was stage I triple neg as well. Starting radiation soon, but cancer is out now. I had AC and then Taxol, which didn't give me an allergic reaction, but I took Benadryl before (through IV) and heard of the side effects. Best of luck..definitely talk to your onc about the concerns

Hi all, Had my second round of Cytoxin and Taxotere after a moderately severe reaction. They gave me extra steroids, an antihistimine and benadryl and administered it more slowly. It went well. So, hopefully the next two treatments will go well also. Because of already using my lifetime dose of adrimiacin, it gets a little tricky if I can't take the taxotere. My hair did thin way out and then started to grow in the two weeks I couldn't have chemo, I had it buzzed and when it starts to fall out again, my daughter will shave it. That just works best for me. I have personally had more side effects with the taxotere, but they are manageable. The one I hate the most is the fatigue. It is mental and physical and I just endure. Watching a lot of television though lol!
