I did ACT -- Adriamycin, Cytoxin, and Taxotere. They all can have different side effects, and everyone has a different experience. Taxotere was NOT my friend, but the other two didn't really seem to bother me much.

So glad you're finished, Lisa. I had a really bad reaction to the Taxotere; small allergic stuff all along, but it all came to a head during my last treatment. Enough said!
I just want everyone to be aware of the signs of an allergic reaction...

I just want everyone to be aware of the signs of an allergic reaction to ANY medication: rash, itching, swelling (eyes, tongue -- if tongue get to ER right away).
Lisa, I had neuropathy too. My toes haven't fully recovered (I finished in March) so I'm not hugely optimistic that they'll get back to normal. I also still have some swelling in my feet and ankles periodically. But hey, IT BEATS THE ALTERNATIVE!!!

Well they will tell you it grows back but it doesn't always. A hundred plus women on the taxotears blog are in the same position as I am. Taxotere has a higher incidence of permanent alopecia than the others. I also have no brows, lashes underarm hair either. Leg hair is spotty. No hair in my nose either. I had taxotere five years ago so it is not a new side effect. It's easy to say hair is not important when you have a head full but believe me being bald presents more problems than can solved by donning a wig. I always had thick hair. Choice is yours but at least be aware it can and does happen. Taxotere is the only one I know of with that possible side effect. Of the women on our blog, the only commonality is that we all had taxotere.

Taxotere left me permanently bald. There are other options.

@vickie that is so weird. Taxoteer made my hair grow back. Going back to A/C and it will most likely fall...it fell the first time.

I had cytoxen and taxotere. I had a severe reaction and had all of the nasty side effects! My hair is growing back but I still have peripheral neuropathy mainly in my feet. All that from only one treatment! But everyone is different! My oncologist said my reaction was the worse he had seen in 30 years of practice!

I am sorry to read this for you. I'm on the back log and had severe reaction to taxol. Onc had never seen this either. Fingers still don't work well after one treatment. Switched to taxotare now. Tolerating much better.

Did you follow up with a plant based diet?

Hope this finds you well. Sorry if it catches you off guard.

I did TAC too... 6 rounds... It completely eliminated my cancer :). Yes, you will lose your hair... I cut mine from long to short to shorter to buzzed then shaved... When else could I try some bold looks? I finished chemo a month ago and my hair is already coming back :) It's actually more like a head of peach fuzz, but its a start! Good luck with everything!

I had the T/A/C. I opted to shave my head when hair started to fall out. I had pain in my scalp and itching; it stopped ad soon as I shaved it.

Instead of shaving, maybe cut it shorter until it starts to come out? It may help with adjusting to the change - I felt the same as you, but it is still a big change that you don't realize how hard it's going to be. Hope this helps :)

I've had both. We r all different. I have a good friend that took A/C also known as the "red devil" and that's exactly what it was for me, but to her NOTHING. SHe felt good with a little tiredness. I on the other hand had all the symptoms.

I've been doing taxol now and it's soooo much better for me. He hates it. Now she has all the symptoms on taxol. So everyone is different. I lost all my hair on A/C took a break from it and started Taxol and my hair is growing back. I have 3 more treatments one of taxol and 2 of A/C. My doctor said I will lose all my hair with A/C again. It will grow back since I've had it before and it started growing. We r all different u will know what the symptoms will be with the first treatment. No point stressing. What's gonna b is going to be. We need it. God bless u.
