Our daughter, aged 46, was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. After surgery and two bouts of chemo she was pronounced clear after an MRI two months ago. However, she had some back discomfort, and after an Xray, it was disclosed that metastasis had occurred in her bones. The consultant has said that at best she has ten years, but realistically 3-5. This terrrible news has had a profound effect on her nearest and dearest. She, on the other hand, has faced up to it and intends to carry on with her normal life, and to cross any bridges when or if she comes to them. This is our approach too. We are one family among thousands of others who face this prospect, and come what may - we are going to deal with it.
